Pitbull Swarm Thwarts Couple's Wedding Plans
Sara Cooke and Ryan Lesher's dream wedding turned into a nightmare when a dozen pitbulls swarmed around them on their patio.
- The couple was enjoying a quiet evening at home when the dogs suddenly appeared.
- They scrambled for safety, but the pitbulls surrounded them, barking and snarling.
- The couple was terrified and forced to call 911.
The pitbulls were eventually removed by animal control, but the incident has left the couple shaken.
- They had planned to hold their wedding on the same patio where the attack occurred, but they are now too scared.
- "We're just so grateful that we're alive," Cooke said. "But we're also really disappointed that we had to cancel our wedding."
- Lesher added, "We've been planning this day for months, and now it's all ruined."
The couple is now considering legal action against the dogs' owner, who has been cited four times since June for having an animal at large.
- Court papers obtained by Inside Edition show that the owner, 42-year-old John Smith, has a history of letting his dogs run loose.
- In June, Smith was cited for allowing his dogs to attack a neighbor's cat.
- In July, he was cited for allowing his dogs to chase a child on a bicycle.
- In August, he was cited for allowing his dogs to bark and growl at pedestrians.
- And in September, he was cited for allowing his dogs to roam free in a public park.
The couple's attorney, David Jones, said that they are considering filing a lawsuit against Smith for negligence.
- "The owner of these dogs knew that they were dangerous, and he failed to take steps to prevent them from attacking," Jones said.
- "As a result, my clients were traumatized and their wedding was ruined."
- Smith could not be reached for comment.
